  • What is Autism?
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental condition that begins in early childhood and continues throughout life. It influences how a person interacts, communicates, and learns, with a wide range of unique traits and abilities. Every individual with autism experiences it differently, showcasing a variety of strengths and challenges, which is why it is referred to as a spectrum disorder. This website uses "ASD" and "autism" interchangeably. Recent estimates suggest that about 1 in 45 children are identified with autism spectrum disorder. ASD is found across all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups, and there are several factors that may contribute to it: Gender: Boys are more often diagnosed with ASD than girls. Family History: Having a sibling with ASD can increase the likelihood. Parental Age: Children born to older parents might have a higher chance. Genetics: Certain genetic conditions are more common in children with ASD. Understanding autism is key to creating a supportive environment where every child can thrive. Children with autism have their own unique way of experiencing the world, and with the right support and opportunities, they can flourish. Therapies and interventions can be very helpful in nurturing their abilities and addressing any challenges they might face. Our goal is to celebrate the individuality of each child and provide resources that help them succeed and reach their full potential.

  • What is ABA?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) methodology involves the application of basic behavioral practices (positive reinforcement, repetition, and prompting) to facilitate the development of language, living skills, and social behavior as well as to help reduce everyday social problems and serious behavior disorders. ABA can be used to teach a variety of skills and adaptive behaviors, including language, reading, social skills, positive peer support, academic engagement, functional living skills, and more. ABA methodology is also effective in decreasing inappropriate behaviors such as noncompliance, tantrums, bed-wetting, feeding problems, aggression, and self-injury. Data collected through hundreds of studies currently indicate that ABA is a highly effective method to teach children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and other developmental disabilities.
